As the business kept flourishing, AR Group of industries came into existence in the name of Arnav and Rishi. And in the next few years it became a reputed company in the field of textile and construction.
The three years difference in their ages was never taken into account by Kushi when it came to competing with Arnav. Be it sports or studies, she always wanted to prove that she was the best. And when she tried to do that Arnav used to shut her up by saying that he did
much better than her when he was of her age. Though his reactions annoyed Kushi, she never gave up competing with him.
At the age of 13 when Arnav started taking cricket coaching,Kushi too insisted on joining the same. But a lot of effort’s from her mother made her to finally land up in a tennis court.
When Arnav turned 14 he received a huge surprise on his birthday.By the time he was back from his summer camp, a basketball court was all ready for him in their property and Arnav was extremely glad as he can now play his favorite sport, whenever he wants to.
One fine day when all the four kids were in the court, Kushi suggested that they should have a girls versus boys match. And with everyone’s approval the game started. The boys team started scoring more as Arnav was very good at that game. Though Anjali managed to make a goal the girl’s team was terribly behind and since Arnav didn’t want to miss this opportunity, he decided to tease Kushi.
“What happened Kushi? You try to compete with me in everything, right? So what’s stopping you now? What happened to your competitive spirit?”, he mocked.
When Kushi didn’t reply, “Forget about competition, I wonder if you can ever shoot the ball into the basket in your life”, he added.
His words made a dent on Kushi’s ego and she decided to win the game by hook or by crook. When the game got resumed Kushi’s entire focus shifted onto Arnav’s every move. Just when he was about to throw the ball in the direction of the basket, she pushed him to prevent him from scoring a goal. Everything happened so quickly and nobody knew what exactly happened, but the next very next moment Arnav collapsed onto the ground. He laid there unconscious while the other three surrounded him.
Anjali was the first one to react and hearing her screams, everyone came running out of the house. They were shocked to see an unconscious Arnav and tried to wake
him up.
“What happened to him?”, asked Sakshi addressing the kids while Aarthi took Arnav’s head into her lap.
“We don’t know. We were playing and all of a sudden he fell down”, came the answer from Anjali and Rishi while Kushi stood there like a statue. Looking at her face, Sakshi sensed that something was wrong.” Why are you not saying anything? Did you do something? Is there something which I should know??”, she questioned her daughter.
Though Kushi wanted to say that she pushed Arnav, seeing him in that state she didn’t dare to open her mouth.
“I don’t know”, she replied to not get into any trouble.
Meanwhile Aarthi sprinkled water on Arnav’s face. Though his breathing and everything else seemed to be normal, he didn’t respond. The elders got panicked and decided to take him to the nearby hospital. The entire clan went to the hospital where the doctor checked Arnav and said that they need to do some tests. A nurse took the blood sample from Arnav’s hand, and tears dwelled in Kushi’s eyes as she kept watching all this through the glass walls.
All of a sudden she remembered a scene from a movie where the hero’s brother faints, gets admitted in a hospital and later declared dead. And as she visualized the same scene with Arnav in place of that hero’s brother , her tears knew no boundaries and she started crying profusely.
Sakshi who saw this hugged her daughter and tried to console her saying,” It’s okay Khushi. He is going to be fine. It’s just a small amount of blood”.
“Looks like she got disturbed with the atmosphere here. We shouldn’t have brought them here in the first place. Why don’t you take the kids home”, suggested Devyani.
“No, I can’t leave until I know that everything is fine with Arnav”,replied Sakshi. As the rest understood her concern, everyone stayed back and waited for the results.
Looking at her family whose faces were filled with concern and pain, Kushi felt like a culprit. “What is the necessity to push him? Had I not pushed him, he wouldn’t be in this hospital. Now what should I do?”, she asked herself.
She saw a God’s idol near the reception and walked towards the idol to pray.
Meanwhile the doctor came back with the results and announced that Arnav has diabetes and fainted as his sugar levels were extremely low.
” Diabetes? At this age?”, asked a shocked, Aarthi.
“It’s not very common, but some children do suffer from diabetes. Don’t worry Mrs.Raizada, he is going to be fine. Good diet and physical fitness help a lot to control diabetes. But please make sure that he exercises and takes a healthy diet”, explained the doctor.
“I will ask my nurse to give you a list of the food items that he needs to avoid.Follow that strictly and he will be fine. You can take him home once he wakes up”, he added and walked out of the room after giving them some instructions.
He was going towards his room when he heard a girl praying in front of the idol.
” It’s true that I wanted to win but I don’t want him to die. Please God do something.I’m sorry. I’ll not push him again. Please don’t kill him”, said Kushi who was talking to the idol in front of her.
The doctor smiled and kneeling next to the her, he asked,” So, did you push him?”
She nodded in response and said, ” But please don’t tell my mother. She will me very mad at me. Is Arnav going to die?”, she asked the doctor, innocently.
“What made you think so?”, asked the doctor who was amused by her innocence.
She told him about the scene in the movie for which the doctor smiled and said, ” Nothing of that sought is going to happen. He is absolutely fine and you can play with him as soon as he gets better”.
“Really”, asked Kushi with her wide open eyes.
“Yes.It’s good that he didn’t get hurt but what if he got hurt badly? I hope you don’t repeat something like this with him or anyone else again. “, said the doctor.
“I’ll never do it again”, Kushi answered innocently with guilt all over her face.
Looking at her innocent face, the doctor felt like disclosing the truth to her.
“Your friend didn’t faint because you pushed him. He was kind of… little sick… and fainted because of that”, he told her.
Kushi gaped at the doctor asking, ” Didn’t he faint because of me?”.
“No”, replied the doctor and giving a gentle pat on Kushi’s head, he smiled and left from there.
Khushi was totally relieved.” Unnecessarily I blamed myself for his condition. I’m crying here and he must be happily sleeping on the bed…huh” she scolded herself
and marched towards the waiting room.
As soon as she saw her mother she hugged her and was glad that she was not the reason for anyone’s pain.As the guilt feeling left her, the mischievous Kushi was back.
