Chapter 25
Pushing Preeti aside, Kushi ran towards the door and closed it with a thud. Though that sound made Arnav to throw a glance at the closed door, continuing his conversation on the phone he walked into his room.
“HAVE YOU GONE MAD?? HE AND MY LOVER!!!”, screamed Kushi as she leaned her back against the door.
“Why not?What’s wrong with him? I haven’t seen anyone this handsome till now and I don’t think I will see one anytime in the near future. His tall lean frame, chiseled face, perfect lips, that sharp nose and those two chocolate brown eyes…. Ummm.. Irresistible”, said Preethi dreamily, recollecting Arnav’s features.
“What about those two on his head??”, asked Kushi who was totally annoyed with Preethi’s description about Arnav.
“Which two?”, asked Preethi giving a perplexed look to Kushi.
“Those two big big horns which are always glued to his head”, replied Kushi placing her hands on top of her head.
“What?? He has horns…. but I didn’t see any”,said Preethi scratching her head.
“You were so lost in drooling over him that you didn’t notice his most predominant feature”, replied Kushi as she slapped on her Preeti’s back.
As Preeti kept rubbing her back, “But who is he?”, asked Pragya.
“Who else.. Mr.G”, replied Kushi, checking her painted finger nails
“Mr.G!! You mean..Like G as in giraffe or the Ji which we add as a suffix?”, asked a confused Nisha.
“Like G in Grumpy. To be more precise, his name is Mr.GRUMPY”, replied Kushi.
“What kind of name is that? Why did his parents name such a handsome hunk as grumpy”, asked Preeti who felt bad that his name mismatched with his looks.
“His parent’s didn’t give that name to him…it’s exclusively given to him….by ME”, said Kushi enlightening her friends.
“OH!! Now I get it. So what’s his real name? I mean the one which his parents gave him?”, asked Preethi curiously.
“Why??? Do you want to get your wedding invitation printed with his name as the groom”, taunted Kushi.
“I wish I could”, responded Preethi imagining Arnav in a wedding attire.
“Don’t even think about it”,said Kushi throwing a pillow at Preeti.
“Kushi, but who is this guy and what is he doing in your home? We haven’t seen him earlier”, asked Pragya.
“He is ARNAV, Anjali Di’s younger brother and MY ALL TIME ENEMY”, replied Kushi adjusting the pillows on her bed.
“Oh! So is he the one who was studying abroad??? When did he come back and why didn’t you inform us about it, asked Preethi, in a commanding tone, as she went and stood in front of Kushi.
“I had no clue that you had big plans to give him a royal welcome. Sorry for not informing you, YOUR HIGHNESS…now scoot”, said Kushi dramatically , as she pushed Preethi aside and got busy in adjusting the pillows on the other side of the bed.
“Kushi, he is perfect to be your lover”, said Pragya coming out of her deep thought. And getting a death stare in response from Kushi, she bit her tongue and corrected her words saying, ” I mean.. perfect to ACT as your lover”
“Ya…absolutely…seeing him that Abhay will shut his mouth and get lost forever”, added Nisha.
“Ya Kushi…go and ask him to help you”, suggested Preethi.
“WHAT????ME ….and going to HIM ..asking for HELP..NEVER…not in this life”, said Kushi stressing on each and every word.
“But why? What’s the big deal. Any how you need to ask some one or the other for help.Then why can’t it be him?”, questioned Preethi.
” I’m ready to ask ANYBODY in this world but NOT HIM”, declared Kushi.
Though her chin in the air showed the firmness in her decision, “But Kushi…”, said Pragya trying to persuade Kushi.
“I don’t want to discuss anything about this….I’m even ready to ask that Sanjay”, said Kushi, interrupting Pragya’s attempts.
“But you said that he isn’t tall enough to stand beside you”, reminded Nisha.
“Anybody… short, fat… whatever.. anybody will do. But not him and that’s final.”, said Kushi very firmly.
The girls had to drop their idea of convincing Kushi and finally decided to call Sanjay to ask him for the favor.
Preethi was all set to dial his number when Pragya stopped her saying, “Wait, wait…don’t call him”.
“Now, what happened?”, asked Preethi.
“We haven’t thought about one important aspect”, said Pragya, drawing all the attention towards her.
“What is that?”, asked Nisha. As Kushi and Preethi too joined her, all the girls sat on the bed around Pragya.
“What if this Sanjay agrees to act as your lover and what if he blackmails you once the job is done. The chances to use this drama against you are fairly high, Kushi. We haven’t thought about that”, said Praya, making her friends to look at the problem from a different perspective.
“Ya…so true…it’s quite possible”,said Nisha, who was the first to respond.
“Ya…what if he blackmails you and makes you do things which you don’t want to do?How will you do it Kushi? How will you bear it? And if you revolt, he might spread the word about your drama in the entire college.And did you think about your family and their reputation. They might feel terrible if they find out that you did all drama behind their backs. And just imagine, what if this matter reaches that Abhay’s ears. He will not leave you for sure, Kushi. By hook or crook he will end up marrying you. Think about it, Kushi. I’m warning you”, said Preeti exaggerating everything.
“Will someone shut her up. She is making it sound so frightening”, said Kushi who got panicked by then.
“Preeti might be exaggerating but we can’t deny whatever she said, Kushi. We really need to think about this. It’s not only about Sanjay, given a chance, any other guy in his shoes would definitely try to do this. We can’t trust an outsider and take a chance as this is something which is directly or indirectly related to your family’s reputation, Kushi. Don’t forget that your Di’s wedding is on the cards”, said Pragya, reminding Kushi about Anjali.
The last words did their job. When the matter was related to her family Kushi was not ready to jeopardize. “What shall we do now? We can’t take help from any outsider and put my family’s honor at stake”, said Kushi biting her nails.
” There is only one guy who can help you now without letting anything happen to your family’s reputation”, said Preethi.
“Who?”, asked the other three.
“Who else.. your very own Mr.G”, said Preethi arching her eyebrows.
“Not again…how many times should I tell you that I don’t…”, said Kushi who was interrupted by Preeti.
“Kushi just chill and please listen to me. He is the only one in this whole world who can save you right now. He can act as your lover and at the same time won’t let anything happen to your family’s reputation as he is also a part of your family. Just think with a cool mind. This is the best bet you have”, said Preethi trying to explain. As the other two girls seconded her opinion, Kushi was forced to think about Arnav.
She spent half an hour weighing the pros and cons of seeking Arnav’s help and finally her friends succeeded in convincing her. Though she came to a conclusion that Arnav was the only one who could pull her out of this mess, her big, fat ego didn’t let her move forward.
“Now go and talk to him”, said Pragya, directing her friend.
“Should I really ask him??”, responded a helpless Kushi.
” I can ask him if you want. But mind you… I will ask him to be my lover not act as your lover”, warned Preeti.
“Oh…shut up”, yelled Kushi who seemed to be quite confused..
“Kushi just ignore her. Go and talk to him”, suggested Nisha.
Kushi walked towards the door, opened it and stood rooted to her spot as she was no more sure of her actions.
The three girls looked at each other, exchanged few smiles and got into action. They pushed Kushi out of the room and had to literally drag her, to make her stand in front of Arnav’s room.
Before Kushi could get a hold on herself, Preeti knocked on Arnav’s bedroom door and rushed back into Kushi’s room. As the other two girls followed her, they closed the door, leaving Kushi all alone in front of Arnav’s room.
And the deer stood there biting her nails nervously,waiting for the lion to open the door and attack.
